The short answer
- Many funding websites sell or share your application. Each company that gets it starts calling.
- Some calls come from your credit report: when a credit check is run, your name can be sold as a "trigger lead".
- You can cut most of it off in a few minutes, and you can apply in a way that keeps it from starting.
Where all those calls come from
Most of the time, the calls trace back to one of two things.
- Your application was shared. A lot of funding websites are really lead sites. They collect your details and pass them to several companies at once, sometimes dozens. Each company that pays for your name has every reason to call fast and call often.
- Your credit was checked. When a credit check is run, the credit bureaus are allowed to sell the fact that you are shopping for money. These are called trigger leads. Within a day or two, companies you never heard of know you were looking.
Neither one means you did something wrong. It just means your details went further than you expected.
How to make it stop
- Ask each caller where they got your information, then ask them to put your number on their do-not-call list. They are required to honor it.
- Opt out of credit offers at optoutprescreen.com, the official site run by the credit bureaus. It stops most trigger leads.
- Add your cell to the national Do Not Call list at donotcall.gov. It does not stop everyone, but it gives you a clear line to point to.
- Reply STOP to unwanted texts from companies you do not know.
- Do not give your details to a new caller just to get them off the phone. That usually starts the cycle again.
How to apply without starting it
Before you fill out a form, find out who you will actually be talking to. Read the fine print near the submit button. If it says your information may be shared with "partners" or a "network", expect calls from all of them.
At Jade, your information is not passed to other companies or lead lists. After you apply, you hear from one person: your Jade advisor. Nobody else reaches out unless you accept an offer. There is also no credit pull to apply, so applying does not set off trigger leads.
Why one advisor matters
When ten people call you about the same thing, you end up comparing sales pitches instead of offers. With one advisor, you get one person who knows your business, explains every number, and picks up when you call back. That person stays with you from the first call until the money lands, and after.
